Theatrefullstop have teamed up with both the Etcetera Theatre and Lion and Unicorn Theatre to present the first Pub Theatre Festival set to be staged in April 2017.
The aim is to encourage current drama school and university students, as well as graduates to stage their works to a paying audience. The festival will take place over 2 weekends in April (Friday and Saturday) and will allow for groups with a max of 3 performers to showcase 30 minutes of work. A total of 20 acts will have the opportunity to showcase their work at one of the venues.
A reward system will also be introduced, whereby if the audience pay for 3 tickets, they’ll a free ticket to a future show.
Making your first steps into staging your own works after higher education can be a tough task. There’s plenty to think about as you’re not only creating and devising your own works but you’re having to bear in mind the marketing and financial aspects of a show. What the Pub Theatre Festival looks to do is to create a launchpad for the voices of tomorrow. Everyone has to start from somewhere, and with a little support, possibilities can be endless.
In order for performers to be considered, you must submit a bio about yourself and your theatre company, a synopsis of your piece and any other supporting material (video clips/script/photos etc). You must have a finalised idea rather than just an idea you are currently working on.
Submissions will open on Friday 1st July and will close on Friday 30th December. Submissions are to be made to Lucy Basaba at firstname.lastname@example.org.
