Metropolis Music and Dreamland presents ‘The Flaming Lips & The Beta Band’ live at Dreamland Margate

Metropolis Music & Dreamland Margate have today announced a huge co-headline show for summer 2026, as The Flaming Lips and The Beta Band take over the iconic Scenic Stage at Dreamland Margate on Saturday 18 July.

Set within the historic seaside amusement park on the Kent coast, Dreamland continues to establish itself as one of the UK’s most distinctive live music destinations. This special double bill brings together two of alternative music’s most influential and revered acts for a rare outdoor UK performance.

Formed in Oklahoma City in 1983, The Flaming Lips have built a reputation as one of alternative rock’s most innovative and unpredictable forces. Across a career spanning more than four decades, the band have earned multiple Grammy Awards, a Tony nomination and a Gold-certified album with Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots. Known for their spectacular audiovisual live shows and boundary-pushing collaborations with artists including Miley Cyrus, Kacey Musgraves and Tame Impala, they remain a defining presence in contemporary alternative music.

Their latest releases continue to demonstrate a return to melodic, song-focused writing while maintaining the experimental spirit that has made them a globally respected creative force.

Joining them are The Beta Band, one of the most celebrated and influential UK acts of their era. Formed in 1996, the band quickly gained acclaim for their genre-blending sound, combining indie rock, folk, electronica and psychedelia into a distinctive musical identity.

Though their original run was relatively brief, their albums The Beta Band, Hot Shots II and Heroes To Zeroes cemented their reputation as a defining alternative act of their generation. Their recent reunion shows have drawn widespread attention from fans and critics alike, reaffirming their status as a cult favourite with lasting cultural impact.
