Game Operator Oscar Hewitt talks about Objective Entertainment’s online immersive experience THIS IS REALITY 2000

Within the past two decades, reality TV gameshows have formed a significant part of popular culture, the concept of relatable characters becoming household names a fascinating premise. Inspired by the genre, immersive theatre company Objective Entertainment have crafted their very own interactive experience THIS IS REALITY 2000, a Zoom based event, curated for a group of up to 12 participants who partake in a series of social games. Currently available to organise and book now, game operator Oscar Hewitt tell us more about how he’s found the experience so far, what he’s learned operating work for a digital stage and what to expect.

You’re the Game Operator for THIS IS REALITY 2000, how have you found the experience so far?

I’ve had a fantastic time running THIS IS REALITY2000 with Objective Entertainment. Although I was quite nervous in my first game, I’ve now really settled into the position and fully enjoy experiencing the game alongside the ‘Housemates’. Every game is different and it never gets boring.

Have you learned anything new from operating work for a digital stage/forum?

Yes, definitely! Every game I’m learning more and more about how to iron out little kinks and make the whole experience smoother and more enjoyable for the participants. The platform that Objective Entertainment are using to run the game – and the way that all of these different bits of software are all interwoven to create the game – is nothing short of genius.

What can participants expect from the experience?

Participants can expect an evening of non-stop entertainment. Definitely the most fun they will have had since March. There are only so many Zoom quizzes you can do, and I think THIS IS REALITY 2000 just takes virtual entertainment to a completely new level that hasn’t been developed in this way before. A unique and enjoyable experience is guaranteed.

What would you like for participants to take away from the experience?

As long as the players enjoy themselves, that’s all that matters. Chris and Dean (the Co-Founders) are both really genuine and hardworking guys who have created a beautifully brilliant and hilarious game that can be enjoyed by everyone.
