There are so many TikTok creators ready to make their Fringe debuts! We know everyone will have their personal faves, but here’s a small selection of TikTok’s Ones to Watch:
The Comedy Reserve
Pleasance Dome| Aug 3-14, 16-21, 23-29
Abi Clarke is a stand-up comedian based in Bristol, who first took TikTok by storm in 2020 during lockdown, sharing original sketches on her TikTok page. Since then, her hilarious content has earned over 824.4K followers on TikTok, and she’s been singled out as one to watch on the comedy circuit. Highlights include her video about office gossip, her skit about fashion houses, and her experiences meeting Lenny Henry.
The Many Faces of Horatio Gould
The Waverley Bar | Aug 5-14, 16-29
Horatio Gould and Andrew Kirwan are a comedy duo who share clips from their podcast and hilarious skits dissecting every day moments or else reimagining moments in history. From acting out a podcast in the 1200s to exploring the difference between English and French TV chefs, there isn’t a skit they haven’t thought of.
Christian Brighty: Playboy
Pleasance Below – Pleasance Courtyard | Aug 3-28
Dubbed ‘TikTok’s answer to Mr Darcy’, Christian is a London-based comedian known for his mock period romance sketches. Whether it’s the new dress releveal moment, Bridgerton’s take on courtship, or the regency thirst trap, you can trust that Christian will hilariously tear apart the genre’s most predictable tropes.
Grace Campbell: A Show About Me(n)
Gilded Balloon Teviot | Aug 3-14, 16-29
Grace has a skit for every type of girl you can imagine, from London girls reacting to Top Boy to English girls on Jubilee weekend – there is truly a character for everyone so you’re bound to recognise yourself or someone you know. Alongside this, Grace shares her take on key events, from fake interviewing Matt Hancock on his resignation to impersonating Liam Payne at the Oscars.
Max Fosh: Zocial Butterfly
Underbelly, Bristo Square | Aug 3-14, 16-29
Max is an interviewer who can make any situation hilarious. His quick-witted responses and unmatcheable facial expressions make any interaction one to remember. Fromcompetitive philanthropy to farmers on tour, Max has a knack for getting the funniest moments out of any interviewee.
Sugarcoated Sisters: Bittersweet
Just the Tonic at The Caves | Aug 4-14, 16-21, 23-28
Tabby and Claire’s creativity is endless; they produce musical parodies of every day moments and political events. From their experience of dating in a provincial town, to pointed comedic social commentary, and a good dose of political satire, it’s no surprise that the pair won the Best Newcomer at the Musical Comedy Awards 2022.
And finally . . . We have a very BIG secret
On Sunday 14 August at 9:00pm, TikTok will be hosting a Secret Gig with one of the biggest names in comedy.
We can’t tell you any more than that . . . But laughter is 100% guaranteed.
To find out more and for you chance to get your hands on one of the hottest tickets in town, follow @EdFringe and #EdFringe for cryptic clues and head to the TikTok coffee station on The Mound in Edinburgh for your chance to win a ticket (T&C’s apply).
