With the power to connect our realities with those across the globe, conversations, discussions, debates are started off by the reporting of various issues. A typically solitary profession, our lead, a freelance journalist (Sam Hoare) proceeds to divulge on his chaotic career as a journalist – his own personal story that sees him stumble into the craft thanks to the circles he moves in. Here, Sam reveals the toll his job has taken on his personal life, an unexpected firing turning his world upside down, yet putting him onto a path years later that takes his journalistic know how internationally.

Press fascinatingly delves into the incredibly unpredictable world of an investigative journalist, in the process, demystifying a profession perhaps misunderstood and seen as glamourous. Unveiling the not so glamourous realities that transpire. Romola Garai directs an intimate portrayal of a human behind the profession, the being behind words written. The production understated, making for a poignant evening. Hoare self assured, charming, ruthless yet able to also observe the vulnerability and fear that can also come with the role. Anecdotal, we’re guided through a series of events that culminate in a stark conclusion. Hoare crafting a personable account of what it takes to bring the truth to the fore. Press a commentary on this significant profession and it’s influence on the world’s stage.
