Bestival 2016

What’s great about our festival culture is the variety of experiences on offer. It’s not unusual however to think that festivals are all about the music as this is usually the major draw, however for all of the theatre enthusiasts out there, line ups are increasingly reflecting popular theatrical trends. Circus has enjoyed a rejuvenated resurgence within the last few years, thanks to the likes of Cirque du Soleil who have really helped to deconstruct the stereotypical genre and make it relatable to all. The renowned Cirque Bijou return from their Saturday Night Spectacle performance at Wilderness with a specially crafted experience, Cirqueserai.

Critically acclaimed poet and theatre maker Brigitte Aphrodite performs her 2015 Edinburgh Fringe Festival hit, My Beautiful Black Dog, a piece examining the very timely topic of mental health. Award winning Sleeping Trees bring a combination of intertextuality and plenty of laughs with their latest in a trilogy of shows, SCI-FI. The Roundhouse Poetry Collective present 14 up and coming poets aged 18-25. The collective meet once a week to create work and are supported by established mentors, The Roundhouse are renowned for championing new theatre talent whether that be poetry or playwriting and this is your chance to witness the poetic voices of tomorrow.

Others acts this year include: The Chuckle Brothers| Sink the Pink| Scottee’s Camp| Scary Sh*t| Sh*tfaced Shakespeare| Shelf Comedy Duo and many more!
