Underbelly, New Diorama Theatre and Concord Theatricals announce winners for the 2024 Edinburgh Untapped Award

Underbelly, New Diorama Theatre and Concord Theatricals are thrilled to announce this year’s winners for the hit-making Edinburgh Untapped Award – designed to support and discover theatre makers at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The three winning companies who will receive a £10,000 cash grant to support their show in Edinburgh are, Counterfactual, piss / Carnation and Our Day. The partnership with Underbelly, New Diorama and Concord Theatricals aims to discover and support early and mid-career theatre makers at the Edinburgh Fringe and this year proves no different as the companies prepare to present game-changing work this August.  Over the years, the Edinburgh Untapped Award has become a major launchpad, nationally recognised for its success in identifying and platforming brilliant new talent with winners going on to embark on successful tours, show transfers, securing international opportunities and win awards!

Twenty One Pilots announce massive global headline tour

GRAMMY® Award-winning duo Twenty One Pilots have announced details of their massive global headline The Clancy World Tour and shared “Next Semester,” a new song from their highly anticipated forthcoming album, Clancy, which will be released May 17th via Fueled By Ramen [album artwork / tracklist below]. Twenty One Pilots will celebrate the release of Clancy with The Clancy World Tour, their biggest headline tour ever set to get underway August 15th at Denver, CO’s Ball Arena. jxdn announces the ‘When the Music Stops’ tour

LA- based singer-songwriter jxdn has announced details of the “WHEN THE MUSIC STOPS TOUR,” which will see him returning to stages across the U.S., Europe, and the U.K. later this year in support of his forthcoming LP, WHEN THE MUSIC STOPS, arriving June 28th via Travis Barker’s DTA Records [album artwork / tracklist below].

The U.S. leg of the “WHEN THE MUSIC STOPS TOUR,” which will feature special guests LØLØ and GUNNAR, is set to get underway on June 6th at Minneapolis, Minnesota’s First Avenue and will make stops in Chicago, Brooklyn, Denver and other major markets before concluding with a hometown show at The Belasco in Los Angeles, California on July 27th.  On September 12th, the European leg of the tour will pick up in Paris, France at Bataclan and will visit Germany, Spain, Italy and other European territories before a run of shows across the U.K. which will commence with an October 2ndperformance at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire [see tour itinerary below].

Report warns performing arts under threat from future global shocks unless lessons are learned from pandemic

Live performing arts are facing an existential threat from a range of potential global shocks unless there is significant and sustained investment in resilience planning, according to a new international study.

Climate-related emergencies, political unrest, economic pressures, and public health crises all threaten the viability of drama, dance, opera and other live events, as well as their benefits to society and community wellbeing.

This is the conclusion of research looking at the varied responses of the G7 nations to the COVID-19 pandemic, saying major lessons must be learned to safeguard the future of the sector.

Plaque Celebrating Statesman and Abolitionist Frederick Douglass Unveiled at Liverpool Everyman

164 years since the prominent abolitionist Frederick Douglass spoke at Hope Hall (now the site of the Everyman Theatre), Liverpool Everyman has unveiled a plaque on the front of its building, designed by Liverpool born artist Vicki Opomu.

Featuring Douglass and the quote “Liberty is meaningless where the right to utter one’s thoughts and opinions has ceased to exist”, it will be a lasting physical reminder of the struggle for freedom and reform, and an inspiration for generations to come.

Dua Lipa announces Royal Albert Hall show

Today, 3x GRAMMY and 7x BRIT Award-winning global pop powerhouse Dua Lipa has announced she will play a show at London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall on October 17th.

Fans can pre-order Dua’s new album here to receive first access for tickets on April 10th. General onsale will happen here on April 12th at 10am local time.

Last week, Dua released the first tour run with shows in Berlin, Pula and Nimes taking place in June, which sold out immediately.

On June 28th, Dua will make her Pyramid Stage debut as the Friday night headliner at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

Dua’s new album, Radical Optimism, will be released May 3rd and consists of 11 songs including the euphoric club-ready track “Houdini” and recently released single “Training Season.”

Megan Thee Stallion Announces Long-Awaited “Hot Girl Summer” Global Tour With GloRilla As Special Guest

Today, three-time, Grammy award-winning superstar Megan Thee Stallion formally announced the “Hot Girl Summer Tour,” a 31-city worldwide trek produced by Live Nation that will feature a special Chicas Divertidas VIP section and include domestic stops in the U.S. and international performances across Europe.

Grammy-nominated artist GloRilla will serve as a special guest on the “Hot Girl Summer Tour,” which will mark Megan’s first-ever, headlining tour in arenas across the globe. The Memphis-born hitmaker, who has delivered award-winning hits such as “Tomorrow 2 (feat Cardi B),” “FNF” and “Yeah Glo!,” will join Megan on the domestic leg of the tour.

The tour will kick off on May 14 in Minneapolis and make stops at several major cities across the United States – including New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, a hometown performance in Houston and many more – before wrapping up in Las Vegas on June 22. The collection was captured on a variety of physical media formats and digitized during the pandemic. @sadlers_wells and @breakinconvention present the Hip Hop Games on Stratford Waterfront in @queenelizabetholympicpark this summer ahead of Breaking’s inaugural appearance at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games (@olympics) and the opening of Sadler’s Wells East. On Saturday 3 August from 12-7pm, eight east London dancers will compete across two teams in a hip hop dance improvisation game with a series of different creative challenges in a free event for all the family.

The Hip Hop Games is a concept born in France in 2011 from dancer, choreographer and artistic director Romuald Brizolier and is the first concept that offers a hip hop dance improvisation game staged through various creative challenges. The Hip Hop Games has since toured internationally, bringing together dancers from across the world and gaining widespread recognition.  

To continue marking Breaking’s debut in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Sadler’s Wells and Breakin’ Convention are inviting visitors to watch the Breaking Olympic finals at free live watching parties on Friday 9 & Saturday 10 August. This will then be followed by a 45 minute Pilates workshop at 3:15, also on Instagram Live led by @sib_meienberg. The session is suitable for beginners, and we ask if possible, to make sure you have a yoga/exercise mat with you, and a bottle of water.
