Writer Victoria Buse reflects on latest show, ‘Not In the Mood for Quiche Anymore’, which played at the Barons Court Theatre

In a day where generationally, we’ve witnessed a shift in how prospective couples meet, the online realm dominates interactions. Dating apps now a part of our digital fabric, perfectly curated accounts allow for us to portray ourselves in a light that we’d like to be seen in. Positive attributes understandably pushed to the forefront whereas our flaws – phased out or seldom addressed and with this, hard truths can often present themselves in various forms. Exploring this phenomenon of online dating and the aftermath of meeting someone you possibly envision yourself with, writer Victoria Buse reflects on her latest show Not In the Mood for Quiche Anymore, a resonant piece placing focus on main character, Becks’ hope to meet her dream man online, which she believes she has done, only to discover his criminal conviction. Fontaines D.C. announce biggest headline welsh show at Cardiff Castle for July 2025

Fresh from selling out London’s 45,000 Capacity, Finsbury Park, Fontaines D.C. today announce a brand-new headline show at Cardiff Castle on Wednesday 30th July 2025. Alongside the recently announced show at Wythenshawe Park in Manchester (15 August), Cardiff Castle will serve as another flagship summer 2025 date for the Grammy-nominated, BRIT Award-winning Irish band, delivering their signature live intensity to fans in Wales. Support on the night will come from BRIT and Mercury-nominated hip-hop poet and playwright Kae Tempest and London punks High Vis.

The announcement comes fresh off the back of the release of Romance, the band’s biggest album to date. Released via XL Recordings on 23 August, the James Ford-produced record has been met with an incredible response from fans and critics alike. Selling more than twice as much as their acclaimed 2022 release Skinty Fia in the first week, Romance received a host of five-star plaudits from the likes of NME, The Guardian and Rolling Stone UK. Meanwhile, songwriting legend Elton John recently declared that they’re “the best band out there at the moment”. The 11-track masterpiece presents a bold leap forward for the band, weaving together ideas that have been percolating among Grian Chatten (vocals), Carlos O’Connell (guitar), Conor Curley (guitar), Conor Deegan (bass), and Tom Coll (drums) since their acclaimed 2022 release, Skinty Fia. With its innovative sound and captivating artistry, ROMANCE cements Fontaines D.C.’s status as “the defining band of their generation” (NME).
