Wunderhouse announce UK/IRE tour dates for autumn 2024

Wunderhorse announce their biggest UK & Ireland tour to date for autumn 2024, following news of forthcoming album, Midas, arriving on 30th August via Communion. Recorded at Minnesota’s Pachyderm Studio (birthplace of Nirvana’s In Utero & PJ Harvey’s Rid Of Me) with producer Craig Silvey (The Rolling Stones, The National, Florence + the Machine), Midas is the band’s second LP, following 2022’s debut Cub.

Midas adopts an unpolished recording process which captures the visceral atmosphere of Wunderhorse’s lauded live performances. Frontman Jacob Slater explains:

“When we first went into the studio to make this record, the only thing we were sure about is how we wanted it to sound; very imperfect, very live, very raw; no frills,” Slater says of the new album. “We wanted it to sound like your face is pressed up against the amplifiers, like you’ve been locked inside the bass drum.”

This autumn, the band’s headline shows will see them step into bigger, iconic venues, which include a stop at London’s Brixton Academy. You can catch the visualiser for their new track July here…

Camden People’s Theatre, in its 30th year of presenting bold, socio-political theatre and championing tomorrow’s theatre makers, will say goodbye this summer to its much-loved artistic leader, Brian Logan, and begin the search for a new Artistic Director.

Over his 13-year tenure, Brian has championed and elevated the careers of thousands of artists making exceptional work that has gone on to change the landscape of the theatre industry. Brian’s vision was to position CPT as the open door to the creative industries for artists working in non-traditional ways and who had taken non-traditional routes into the industry. Through this work, CPT has established itself as one of the most important spaces in London for early-career artist development and form innovation. Spirited Away @ London Coliseum Review

Courtesy of Johan Persson.

Recently awarded an Academy Award for his critically acclaimed animated work The Boy and the Heron, legendary founder of animation studio Studio Ghibli Hayao Miyazaki’s cult classic Spirited Away transforms the London Coliseum auditorium with clusters of cherry blossoms dotted around the venue. The tale of Chiriro (Kanna Hashimoto) unpredictably transitioning into the realm of the Kami – spirits significant within the Japanese Shinto religion with the aim of finding her parents (Fu Hinami and Kenya Osumi) who she’d split away from accidentally and uplifting a curse that has turned them into pigs that threatens to bound them forever. A tale of bravery, resilience, family and of course spirit, John Caird and Maoko Imai co-adapt a colourful, thoughtful and sustained watch, Caird directing an international work that clearly resonates with fans globally.

The Centre des monuments nationaux will be hosting the exhibition: ‘Paralympic History, From Intergration in Sport to Social Inclusion (1948 – 2024)’ at the Panthéon from the 11th to 29th September 2024

2024 will see France host both the Olympic Games (26 July – 11 August) and the Paralympic Games (28 August – 8 September), in Paris, for the first time in 100 years, and the Centre des monuments nationaux wanted to highlight the history of the fight for emancipation and equality as part of its programme of events for the Cultural Olympiad.

Through archives, posters, photographs, sports equipment, artefacts and audiovisual documents, the Paralympic History exhibition at the Panthéon – the burial place of leading figures whose commitment to the French nation or whose defence of the values of the French republic is seen to deserve official recognition from their country – will look at those who, through their roles within the Paralympic movement, have shaped a history based on pride in difference and demands for a more inclusive society.

the aim being to highlight the gradual integration of athletes with a variety of disabilities, on the one hand, and the changes in the discourse, images and materials associated with competitive sport, on the other.
