4 years ago this year, Theatrefullstop was established. It started off as a lone venture however the blog turned site has brought together a collective of like minded theatre lovers who champion the UK’s rich theatre culture. The Bush Theatre started life as a library in 1895; 122 years later, the building has just completed a multi-million pound renovation, including wheel chair accessibility and an additional space. The Bush Theatre is known for championing new writing from a range of fresh talent and will shortly re-open with a politically and culturally responsive programme. To kick off the season, the theatre will introduce Black Lives, Black Words; a series of shorts questioning whether ‘black lives matter today?’
Chinglish: a blend of Chinese and English, in particular a variety of English used by speakers of Chinese, incorporating some Chinese vocabulary or constructions. Tony Award winning and Pulitzer Prize finalist David Henry Hwang highlights this social and cultural phenomena in his immediate piece of the same name. Andrew Keates directs, marking the play’s European premiere.
This year marks 100 years since the Russian Revolution; a movement dismantling Tsarist rule and instead replacing it with a parliament. This was the birth of the Soviet Union. To mark this fact, the Arcola Theatre are staging a season of works which are all in their own way rebelling against an oppressive factor. Russia’s most esteemed playwright, Anton Chekhov is celebrated for his symbolic work, The Cherry Orchard. A piece presenting the battle between outdated aristocratic ways and the burgeosie’s rise to money- Chekhov perfectly encapsulated Russia’s historical transformation.

Winner of the Fringe First Award in 2012, Richard Marsh and Katie Bonna’s Edinburgh Festival hit, Dirty Great Love Story returns to the stage, this time at the Arts Theatre London.
Award winning show Dr Zeiffal, Dr Zeigal, and The Hippo That Can Never Be Caught! by Gaulier trained theatre company Mouth of Lions will take to The Vaults Festival from 28th January-26th February. An immersive piece of theatre inspired by the discovery of prehistoric hippo bones in the UK, this family show looks to ignite imaginations and encourage a team of young explorers to hunt for a wild hippo on the loose.
