Ticket sales for the Black British Theatre Awardsopened today, with the ceremony set to take place on 4th November at the home of Disney’s The Lion King, the Lyceum Theatrein London. Disney’s award-winning musical is the headline sponsor for this year’s awards. Now in their sixth year, the awards seek to celebrate the excellence and influence of black performers and creatives in the theatre industry.
As one of the most highly anticipated events in British theatre, the 2024 edition of the awards will bring together the best of black British theatre and will recognise excellence across several broad category groups. These include the Creatives Group, which recognises producers, directors, and performers; the Recognition Group, which covers lighting, sound, and theatre design as well as book and lyrics, casting, and playwrights; Plays; and Musicals. Other category groups include the Champions Group, which recognises child and non-binary performers as well as LGBTQIA+ and disability champions and the Achievement Awards, which honour teachers, graduates, and lifetime achievers.
