Appointed in 2015, Matthew, alongside the leadership team, has gone on to transform the theatre, increasing the number of shows each year and presenting popular and acclaimed Seasons of work that include new writing, refreshed classics, bold new musicals, dance theatre and shows for families. The Old Vic’s iconic building is now open day and night with transformed and newly accessible front-of-house, Stage Door and back-of-house spaces.

ABOUT ARTEMAS:
At 24-years-old, Artemas, has only been releasing music since late 2020 but is fast developing a distinctive alternative pop sound through his relatable songwriting and captivating melodies. The self-taught multi-instrumentalist and unashamed pop music fan is a student of the YouTube generation of songwriters/producers. Hailing from Oxfordshire, but now based in London, Artemas made the most of being restricted to his bedroom over the past couple of years, spending most waking hours during that time honing his studio craft. With release of his pretty mixtape earlier this year, led by single “if you think i’m pretty,” he garnered global attention with hundreds of millions of streams, while being named an Artist to Watch by both Hypebeast and Ones to Watch. Now, he continues his takeover with “i like the way you kiss me” zooming to over 520M streams, reaching #12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on Billboard 200 Ex-Us chart.

Give Film A Chance: Raindance occupies a new midsummer slot in the festival calendar

For the 32nd edition of the Raindance Film Festival, the UK’s leading indie film festival is moving up the festival calendar. Migrating away from the autumn, this transitional edition sees Raindance occupy a new midsummer slot with all the brilliance and lustre that the summer season commands. Running 19 – 28 June, host cinemas are Curzon Mayfair, Curzon Soho, and The Prince Charles Cinema in central London, and Genesis Cinema in east London. The House of Raindance industry hub and the Raindance Immersive Summit (18 – 19 June) will once again be hosted at Wonderville on Haymarket. The 9th Raindance Immersive runs in VRChat 1 – 30 June.

Raindance basks in the radiance of summer with a programme of relevant, radical, and glorious premieres of must-see features and documentaries. An advocate of new and vibrant voices, this year’s selection prioritises the work of first and second-time filmmakers like never before. This year, 90% of the films screening in competition are debut features, re-enforcing the Raindance mantra as a place to discover and be discovered.

“Raindance is known as a festival of discovery,” says Raindance founder Elliot Grove. “Ever since Raindance launched back in 1993, year after year Raindance has developed a reputation as the place to discover and be discovered. With our newly determined and defined focus on first and second-time filmmakers, we continue our campaign of championing new voices and the edgy, under-the-radar films that we at Raindance love so much. Come and join our midsummer celebration of the very best new indie cinema and see what you discover. All we are saying is give film a chance.”

People, Places and Things @ Trafalgar Theatre Review

Courtesy of Marc Brenner.

To achieve sobriety is a great thing, for anyone who has directly been affected by alcohol and drug addiction, whether that be you, yourself, or a family member or loved one, the impact of addiction is destructive and heavy. Unresolved traumas dealt with by attempting to source out a means of escapism and resolution. Reprising her award winning role Emma – Denise Gough shows once more why People, Places and Things still resonates a decade on – in a day where we talk about wellbeing and mental health more so.
