With hard-hitting play How To Start a Knife Gang, multi-award-winning theatre company Something Underground will be hitting The Cockpit, Marylebone in Oct 2024. And with free dance & theatre workshops, they’re looking for young people across the city to come and help them create… action! (whilst tackling the issue of knife crime).
How To Start a Knife Gang is a compelling (Bruntwood Prize-longlisted) thriller from writer/director Jonathan Brown, about knife crime and how young people becoming embroiled in it. And Something Underground is seeking young people (age 10-17) from across London, to come to a series of five, completely free, all-expenses-paid dance & theatre workshops and, alongside professional actors, musicians, dance teachers and their theatre director, co-create a fantastic performance to be shown to friends and families on the last evening. The free workshops will also include knife-crime prevention workshops from The Ben Kinsella Trust, and comic-creation from Penificent, (who use graphic art & comics to explore issues of gang violence and mental health.)
