The National Theatre of Scotland 2022 Edinburgh Festivals, Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Edinburgh International Festival and the Scottish Parliament’s Festival of Politics programme Announcement!

The National Theatre of Scotland announce their 2022 programme forming part of this year’s Edinburgh Festivals, including new Alan Cumming dance theatre, Burn, brand-new staging of Liz Lochhead’s Medea at the Edinburgh International Festival and Uma Nada-Rajah’s politically urgent Exodus as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Both EIF productions will tour across Scotland after the Festival. The cast announced for Liz Lochhead’s Medea includes Adura Onashile as Medea, Robert Jack as Jason, Stephen McCole as Kreon, Alana Jackson as Glauke, Anne Lacey as the Nurse and Adam Robertson as the Messenger. The National Theatre of Scotland supports a double bill of Annie George plays Home Is Not The Place and Twa at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and will also take part in the Scottish Parliament’s Festival of Politics (programme to be announced in July 2022).

ZOO Southside AND ZOO Playground ARE BACK FOR 2022 EDINBURGH FRINGE!

ZOO is back in Edinburgh for 2022’s Fringe with a programme packed full of our signature fresh, innovative and spectacular performances, but we were never really away. In 2020, ZOOTV brought the festival to people wherever they were, while in 2021 we teamed up with Gilded Balloon, Traverse Theatre and DanceBase at MultiStory, an innovative open-air venue atop an NCP car park beneath Edinburgh Castle.

Writer Gavin Yule talks about his debut show ‘The Bus Stop’ currently available on the Traverse Theatre website

A topic rarely explored on stage, writer Gavin Yule presents his debut play The Bus Stop, a piece based on his own personal experience of experiencing a disability hate crime. Supported by Lung Ha Theatre Company, champions of accessibility and highlighting voices often unheard, Gavin has created the show under the mentorship of playwright Andrew Edwards and director Nicola Tuxworth. With the hopes of raising awareness on this harsh reality, the show is currently available to stream on the Traverse Theatre’s website until Tuesday 8th December. Singer, Rapper and Actor Kema Sikazwe (Kema Kay) talks about his latest show ‘Shine’ to play at The Traverse, Edinburgh

Kema Sikazwe is an actor, rapper, singer (who performs under the name Kema Kay), rising star and Live Theatre Associate Artist. He played Daniel Blake’s neighbour China, in the Ken Loach film, I, Daniel Blake. His debut show Shine is a Live Theatre production which tells his own autobiographical story through an electrifying live soundtrack and heartfelt words. Shine premiered at Live Theatre, Newcastle from Thu 2 – Sat 11 May and transfers to the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh from Thu 16 – Sat 18 May. Find out more about his show ‘Shine’; a show looking back at his journey from Zambia to assimilating to a new life in Newcastle at 3 years old.
